Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All CICSPlex SM V5R6M0 Users * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: While operating a CICSPlex SM * * environment with a BAS configuration * * you may experience one or more of the * * following: * * * * - When using the EYU9XDBT (CICSPlex SM * * definition utility) to add CICS * * System Definitions (CSYSDEF) into a * * CICS System Group (CSYSGRP) or to * * add CICS System Groups to other CICS * * System Groups, it does not complete * * or runs for extended periods of time. * * * * - During the cold start of a CICS TS * * 5.6 MAS region, you receive message: * * * * EYUNL0906E The CMAS has initiated a * * shutdown of the MAS agent. See the * * CMAS job log for additional * * information. * * * * This is followed by the following * * message in the CMAS log: * * * * EYUTS0002E Topology Connect for * * xxxxxxxx Failed - APPLID(xxxxxxxx) * * CICSplex(xxxxxxxx). * * * * After successfully restarting your * * MAS region some CICS resources that * * should have been installed by BAS * * into that MAS region were missing. * * * * - Errors may occur on a TSSC task * * processing the connect of a MAS. * * These include S0C4 abends, and * * errors processing an XQPQ (CPSM * * Put Queue) request, reported * * from module EYU0XCLL, but with a * * PSW showing the error occurred * * from module BMES. * * This may result in a CMAS * * outage, with message EYUXC0023S * * reporting that the QUE data * * cache has been filled. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: After applying the PTF that resolves * * APAR PH26781, all CMASes and MASes must * * be restarted to pick up the new code. * * The restarts need not be performed at * * the same time. * **************************************************************** In CICS TS 5.6 the CICSPlex SM BAS Component was updated with the capability to use all available BAS data space storage by spreading large resource deployment lists for BAS across multiple data spaces, instead of being constrained to a single data space. This capability was enabled by default in CICS TS 5.6, but with the application of this APAR the default will be changed to disabled. The feature can be disabled or enabled manually by setting feature toggle com.ibm.cics.cpsm.bas.largecicsplex in a CMAS region to either false or true. . With this CICSPlex SM BAS component capability active in a CICSPlex SM CMAS region, errors processing the structures used to manage the BAS resource deployment internal Cache List may lead to corruption of the Cache List contents leading to irregular behaviour by the CICSPlex SM BAS component.
Problem conclusion
The CICSPlex SM BAS component has been updated to interact with the CHE component Cache List structures with reduced overhead, including reduced method call overhead and usage of direct Cache List data space storage access CHE component interfaces. . The CICSPlex SM CHE component has been updated to provide support for multiple Cache List operations under a single method call as well as a safe direct access interface for Cache List storage access by a different CICSPlex SM component. Additionally updates were also made to correct erroneous updates to the Cache List structures themselves.
