Error description
When using electronic vaulting with Spectrum Protect server versions 7.1.8 and 8.1.2 and higher, processes using this functionality fail due to the passwords for the node on the source and target server not matching. This occurs when the node password has expired on the target server, it does not get automatically updated on the target server where the virtual volumes are hosted. The ACTLOG will report the volumes as inaccessible (as shown below) and will need to be updated manually to re-establish communications. The source server's attempts to connect will fail with ANR1404W warning messages. The target server will issue ANR0425W indicating that the node's password has expired ANR1404W Scratch volume mount request denied - mount failed. ANR1216E BACKUP STGPOOL: Process xxx terminated - storage media inaccessible. ANR1893E Process xxx for BACKUP STORAGE POOL completed with a completion state of FAILURE. ANR0425W Session session number for node node name refused - node password has expired. Spectrum Protect Versions Affected: IBM Spectrum Protect Server 7.1.8.00 & 8.1.2.000 and higher on all supported platforms. Additional Keywords: TS003823915 Virtual volumes servernode password expiration renewal
Local fix
Set the password expiration to an acceptable period before it expires and a version containing the fix can be applied. Manually set the password.
