IT34326: THE <FLASHFILES> SECTION MIGHT UNEXPECTEDLY TRACK FILES ON NFS MOUNTS AND THUS POTENTIALLY DELAY GENERATING ERROR-REPORTS

Fix packs for DataPower Gateway version 10.0.x

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• After upgrade of DataPower to 10.0.0 firmware level, the user
  observed a delay in generating error-reports.
  After a while it took few to many minutes.
  Also the user noted that the error-report looked incomplete: it
  already ended after the <Hardware> section in many cases, which
  is normally followed by the <FlashFiles> section and many
  others.
  In some cases, the <FlashFiles> section ended mid-flight,
  showing up to millions of entries like
  <file size="15"><![CDATA[drouter/ramdisk2/mnt/net/my-domain/
  my-static-mount/my-filename]]></file>
  Based on this detail the user realized that the <FlashFiles>
  section unexpectedly tracked these files of NFS static mounts,
  including files processed by the DataPower node itself as well
  as files just present in the remote folder.
  

Local fix

• Do not use NFS mounts or
  quiesce the NFS mounts before attempting to generate
  error-reports or
  be sure the NFS mounts handled below perhaps 100,000 files
  (including files present in the remote folder).
  

Problem summary

• DataPower's error report genration is delayed when tracking NFS
  mounts.
  

Problem conclusion

• Fix is available in 10.0.1.1.
