Troubleshooting
Problem
When I start Excel, following error occurs and IBM Planning Analytics is missing from Excel ribbon.
The type initializer for 'Cognos.Office.Framework.Service' threw an exception.
Resolving The Problem
There are two possible causes.
A. .NET framework version
Please confirm .NET framework version 4.6.1 or later is installed on your computer.
You can check .NET framework version from registry.
You can check .NET framework version from registry.

B. Files in Office Connection folder corrupted
If it had worked before, files in Office Connection folder might corrupted.
In that case, renaming the folder would work. Please notice that you need to recreate a connection to a datasource after renaming.
1. Close Excel.
2. Open File Explorer.
3. Select the View tab.
4. Confirm "Hidden Items" is selected.

5. Type in %appdata% in File Explorer. It would show C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming folder for current user.
6. Click AppData folder to move up. Then navigate to 'C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Cognos' folder.
7. Rename 'Office Connection' folder.
8. Open Excel.
