Error description
Change Team finds Version 7 Java SSL clients send only 1 byte in the initial packet they send to the server. This behavior is not the same as on earlier versions (pre v7 clients). The server code needs to accept the 1 byte message and request the rest of the packet before validating the data. This is a similar problem as was seen on OMVS and APAR IT12752 was created for that.

Problem summary
Version 7 Java SSL clients send only 1 byte in the initial packet they send to the server. This behavior is not the same as on earlier versions (pre v7 Java clients). The server code needs to accept the 1 byte message, and request the rest of the packet before validating the data" (this is a similar problem as was seen on OVMS and APAR IT12752 was created for that)
Problem conclusion
Code changed to handle scenario where less than 8 bytes is sent by the client. and to re-read until at least 8 bytes is read. (any read that returns >0 bytes is regarded as is a successful read and in this particular case only 1 byte has been sent )
Temporary fix
use a pre v7 Java client
