Resolving The Problem

A Kerberos flight recorder trace can be useful for Kerberos problems when using DDM/DRDA®, QNTC, and other kerberized IBM® System i™ products applications.

To enable the Kerberos flight recorder for the user initializing the connection:

Note: Replace instances of <user profile> below with the user that is initializing the connection.
1 Create a home directory for the user if the user does not have one already. On the operating system command line, type the following:

MKDIR '/home/<user profile>'
example; '/home/hermant'
Press the Enter key.
2 Create an "envar" file in /home/<user profile>. On the operating system command line, type the following:

EDTF '/home/<user profile>/envar'
example; '/home/hermant/envar'
Press the Enter key.
3 Paste the following in the file (ensure that _EUV starts in column 1):

_EUV_SVC_MSG_LOGGING=STDOUT_LOGGING
_EUV_SVC_MSG_LEVEL=VERBOSE
_EUV_SVC_STDOUT_FILENAME=/home/<user profile>/trace.txt
_EUV_SVC_DBG_MSG_LOGGING=1
_EUV_SVC_DBG_TRACE=1
_EUV_SVC_DBG=*.9
4
Press F2 to Save the file.
4a. Stop and start the Host Server prestart jobs
ENDPJ SBS(QUSRWRK) PGM(QSYS/QZSOSIGN) OPTION(*IMMED)
STRPJ SBS(QUSRWRK) PGM(QSYS/QZSOSIGN)
4b. logoff/logon
5 Re-create the error.
6 Remove the envar file. On the operating system command line, type the following:

RMVLNK '/home/<user profile>/envar'

Press the Enter key.
7 Log off the 5250 session that re-created the error to release the locks on the trace.txt file.
8 FTP the flight recorder trace output from /home/<user profile>/trace.txt to a PC. Use the ASCII transfer type so that text conversion will occur.
