Error description

  • Error Description:
    If the servername option related to IBM Spectrum Protect for ERP
    is commented out in API client option file (dsm.opt) the
    incorrect error log file is created or updated.
    In these conditions it uses the error log file as specified in
    the first stanza of the dsm.sys that could be related to a
    different instance or to the standard backup archive client.
    The issue is caused by an incorrect initialization of the
    Spectrum Protect API.

Local fix

  • One of the following workaround could be used:
    - Move the SAP HANA or ERP stanza in dsm.sys as first stanza
    - Ensure the servername in option file (dsm.opt) is enabled and
    is set to the same name as specified in the utl file by DP for
    SAP HANA or ERP and in dsm.sys

Problem conclusion

  • If dsmInitEx() failed, messages will appear in log file which is
    defined for the server by default. However, for other cases
    error messages will appear in log file which is defined in
    dsm.sys.
