FLASH: All HIPERs should be applied when upgrading maintenance for IWSZ or zWS

Flashes (Alerts)

Abstract

The latest HOLDDATA should be received before applying SMP/E maintenance to IBM Workload Scheduler for z/OS (IWSZ 9.3) or
z Workload Scheduler (zWS 9.5) . This will ensure that all appropriate HIPER PTFs are included. See the enhanced holddata
web site for details or to order HOLDDATA (http://service.software.ibm.com/holdata/390holddata.html )

Content

If SMP/E maintenance is applied without the latest HOLDDATA, important PTFs could be missed.

This is especially important if you are applying RSU maintenance without coming up to current level.

For example if you are at RSU 1706 for  IWSz 9.3 and wish to install maintenance up to RSU 1906,

if you do not receive the latest HOLDDATA, you would apply HIPER PTF UI63015 for MCP (Modify Current Plan)

processing but would miss the later HIPERS  UI65656 (RSU 1911) and UI69550  (RSU 2008) which also affect

MCP processing.  This is just an example of why all the HIPER PTFs should be applied along with any other

desired maintenance.   See links for 9.3 HIPERS  and 9.5 HIPERS .
