LI81680: ADD MAP POLICY OPTIONS TO ALLOW EMPTY ELEMENTS OF XML INPUT TO GENERATE BADGERFISH JSON ARTIFACTS

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The current map policy has an option that controls how empty
  elements of XML input should be converted to JSON format.  This
  option currently supports a JSON syntax of name:".  This APAR
  adds options to support a JSON badgerfish property syntax of
  name: {"$":"} required by some customers
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• An incomplete fix made in 2018.4.1.7 would have the mapping of
  empty XML elements to JSON incorrectly producing badgerfish
  which matched the requirement for the wsdl to rest API generator
  but also caused side effects for existing APIs.  This was later
  corrected<span style="background-color:rgb(255, 255, 255)"> in
  2018.4.1.8 for existing APIs, but the requirement for 2018.4.1.7
  generated APIs was not met. The wsdl to rest API generator was
  also updated in 2018.4.1.8 to not require or produce badgerfish
  output.  To accommodate customers that created these APIs on
  2018.4.1.7, support for a new API property was added to allow
  badgerfish output without impacting existing APIs.</span>
  

Problem conclusion

• <span style="background-color:rgb(255, 255, 255)">A fix will be
  delivered in the API Connect v5.0.8.10, 2018.4.1.15, and
  10.0.0.2 GA releases.</span>
