Error description
-
When building the primary index of a PHIDAM data base, Index Builder abends with ABENDS0C4-04 if control statements SORTE15 NO and MAXTASKS 32 are specified. If these statements are removed, the job runs successfully. Their standard job includes these statements which are valid when building secondary indexes. They believe it should not be necessary to remove the statements when building primary indexes and that IB should issue an error message that the statements are invalid or ignore them.

Problem summary
-
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IMS Index Builder V2R3 users running IMS V9 * * OLR. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Customer reported S0C4 in IIUBE15N when * * rebuilding PHIDAM primary indexes with * * OLR cursor active and parallel scan in * * effect (SORTE15 NO/ON). Furthermore, * * customer did not accept the * * restrictions in rebuilding the primary * * index for the active OLR data set * * introduced by PK48933/UK27168. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** IB V2R3 parallel scan rebuilds primary indexes in the Master Address Space, no SAS are created. With OLR cursor active two primary indexes are built for the partition in parallel, two sorts being attached. Since the sort E15 exit routine IIUBE15N was reusable, concurent processing problems arose. The PHIDAM primary indexes for partitions with active OLR cursor were rebuilt from the active input data set and the ILDS, the active output data set was not processed. Hence, the primary index for the active output data set would not be correct if roots were added or deleted before the corsor after OLR termination.
Problem conclusion
-
A second exit IIUBE15M was added for parallel rebuild of primary indexes. The active OLR output data set is processed to rebuild the corresponding primary index. The code has been tested with IMS V9 PTF UK28788, and the results are valid for IMS V9 only.
