Images on Fix Central online

To get the latest features and enhancements, it is required to update IBM Spectrum Protect™ Plus from a previous version or release. Software patches and updates are delivered on Fix Central and installed by using the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus administrative console.

The Fix Central online website contains update files for IBM Spectrum Protect Plus for download. The HTTP link in the section "Download package" directs to the Fix Central online website.

The images available through Fix Central do not contain license enablement files. You must install a base level package to use these images.

Note: Because of APAR IT35766, the images of IBM Spectrum Protect Plus on Passport Advantage are replaced with V10.1.7 interim fix2 images at 15 February 2021.

Images on Passport Advantage online

The Passport Advantage online website has complete images of IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.7 for download. The HTTP link in the section "Download package" directs to the Passport Advantage online website.
The images available through Passport Advantage are the base level packages. For any software patches, check Fix Central.

The following images are available for download of V10.1.7 release of IBM Spectrum Protect Plus:

• IBM Spectrum Protect Plus
  These images contain all of the components required to host an IBM Spectrum Protect Plus data protection environment.

  You can optionally expand the environment with the images listed in the following sections. These images can be installed at any time after the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus server component is installed and deployed.
   

• vSnap Server and VADP proxy
  In larger backup enterprise environments, more vSnap servers might be required.
  You can create proxies to run VMware backup jobs through vStorage API for Data Protection (VADP) in Linux environments. The proxies reduce demand on system resources by enabling load sharing and load balancing.

• Container backup support
  Container Backup Support is a feature of IBM Spectrum Protect Plus that extends data protection to containers in Kubernetes or OpenShift clusters.  Before you can back up and restore persistent volumes that are attached to your containers, you must install and deploy Kubernetes or OpenShift backup support images.

  You can install Container Backup Support in an airgap cluster by using the installation package from IBM Passport Advantage Online. An airgap cluster is any Kubernetes or OpenShift cluster that does not have internet access, and therefore cannot pull container images from a Docker registry. The airgap installation package includes the container images for Container Backup Support. During the installation, the container images are loaded by the docker load command and then tagged and pushed to the Docker registry that is specified in the baas-options.sh file. As a result, the container images can be pulled during the Helm installation. • License

  A license key is required to convert the trial version to a fully licensed version.

  A subscription license is required to support Microsoft Office 365 Exchange Online and OneDrive.

A perpetual license option is currently unavailable.

  Note: Entitlement to protect Microsoft Office 365 is NOT included in the IBM Spectrum Protect Suites or the IBM Spectrum Storage Suite, therefore needs to be purchased separately. For test and proof of concept purposes the license is not required. Images on IBM Helm Chart Repository using IBM Entitled Registry

• Container backup support support image
  Container Backup Support is a feature of IBM Spectrum Protect Plus that extends data protection to containers in Kubernetes or OpenShift clusters.
  You can download and install Container Backup Support from the IBM Helm Charts Repository using IBM Entitled Registry. This is a fast and convenient deployment option for Kubernetes or OpenShift clusters that have internet access. The Helm package is smaller in size and therefore takes less time to download. Internet access is required to pull containers at deployment time.
