Summary
In Cognos 11, it is not possible for an administrator to directly copy or move My Content objects of other users to the Team Content area like it was in Cognos 10 due to the UI differences. There is an extra step required. First, the System Administrator must copy the user's My Content objects to their own My Content, then they can copy/move it out of their My Content to the Team Content area from the Glass UI.
Alternatively, the legacy portal may be enabled which will allow the administrator to do this the same way it can be done in Cognos 10.
Steps
- Go to Manage -> Administration Console
- Click on the Security tab
- Select 'Users, groups and Roles'
- Select the security namespace that contains your user
- Find the user in the namespace and click on their name
- Click on the My Folders link for that user to view its contents
- Select the content you want to copy and click the 'Copy' button
- Go back to the namespace and search for the admin user that you are logged in as
- Click on the My Folders link for the admin user, and paste the previously copied content
- Click on the Security tab
- Select 'Users, groups and Roles'
- Select the security namespace that contains your user
- Find the user in the namespace and click on their name
- Click on the My Folders link for that user to view its contents
- Select the content you want to copy and click the 'Copy' button
- Go back to the namespace and search for the admin user that you are logged in as
- Click on the My Folders link for the admin user, and paste the previously copied content
Once the user's content has been copied to the System Administrator's My Folders, the System Administrator will then need to move it to the Team Content area.
- Navigate to the main Cognos Analytics 11 portal as the admin user
- Select My Content
- Find the previously copied content
- Right click and select 'Copy or move'
- In the 'Select a destination' window, click on Team Content
- Select the destination and click 'Copy to' or 'Move to'
- Select My Content
- Find the previously copied content
- Right click and select 'Copy or move'
- In the 'Select a destination' window, click on Team Content
- Select the destination and click 'Copy to' or 'Move to'
Alternatively, the legacy portal may be enabled. This will allow the administrator to access and move My Content objects for other users the same way it was possible in Cognos 10. See the related links for how to enable to the legacy portal and access user's My Folders in Cognos 10.
