Error description

  • Using CSQ1LOGP to format archive log data sets, ends with 5c6
RC=00F10101. The problem happen if there are more then one
archive logs used within the log print utility.

CSQ1LOGP does not correctly detect the end of an archive log
where residual data (e.g. from a reused scratch tape) follows
    the end of log marker.

The 5C6 abend is occurring because some additional integrity
checks invalid RBA in the log data (due to the residual data).

Local fix

  • View the CSQ1LOGP data for each archive log by processing
only one log file instead of a concatenation of several log
    files in one job.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When using CSQ1LOGP to format multiple *
    * archive log datasets, the processing *
    *                      doesn't correctly handle truncated logs *
    * with residual data past the point of *
    * truncation. Depending on the nature of *
    * the residual data, various CSQ1 error *
    * messages can be reported. *
    ****************************************************************
If an ARCHIVE LOG command is issued, the current active log is
truncated and an archive log command record is appended to the
archived log. When using CSQ1LOGP to process truncated archive
logs, if the archive log has residual data beyond the archive
log command record, then it will be processed normally, which
can have varying consequences depending on the specific contents
    of the data.

Problem conclusion

  • The code has been changed to correctly process truncated archive
logs, and will no longer process residual data beyond the point
    of truncation.
