APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When you upgrade to IBM Business Automation Workflow 19.0.0.3,
the profile upgrade(BPMConfig -upgrade) fails with a
java.lang.NullPointerException.

When reviewing the BPMConfig_timestamp.log file, you might find
the following exception occurs while the upgrade procedure tries
to get network shared directory:

Local fix

  • You must rollback the upgrade once you hit this issue.

You must then ensure that the cause of the first profile upgrade
failure doesn't happen again.

Problem summary

  • This exception occurs because the network shared directory is
not initialized.

Problem conclusion

  • A fix is available or will be available that ensures the network
 shared directory is initialized.
