Problem conclusion
The following problems are addressed by the updates provided via this APAR: Updates to the $CSMUTL$ EXEC part: * Corrections to handle data that is associated with multiple local modifications to an existing part. Without these changes, the assessment of local modification content for a defined z/VM CSM service level and that of a managed system can produce incorrect results. * Added logic for additional service level bitmap and local modification checking. Without this update, one can possibly send a z/VM CSM service level package to a managed system that incorporates less applied service than that which already exists on a managed system. In addition, the CSMTRNSP EXEC part (used in relation to the SERVMGR SEND command) is updated to make use of this logic update. * Modified FTP command handling logic to address processing problems that can prevent SERVMGR system management commands from completing successfully in some instances, for which a protection exception abend is symptomatic. * Updates to better accommodate diagnostic use of the FTP command TRACE option. Without this change, problems can arise that prevent successful processing of a SERMVGR SEND command -- inclusive of incomplete commands and abends due to virtual storage capacity being exceeded. Updates to the CSMSRVMT EXEC part: * Modified checking logic for several, differing program $RESTART files. The current checking logic can prevent use of the SERVMGR SRVLVL command in certain instances. * Corrected handling of SERVMGR SERVICE RACF ENABLE calls for both a RACF and RACFSFS component name. Corrections for proper setting the 'ESM_ENABLED' tag in the CSM SVCSTAT file for SERVMGR SERVICE RACF DISABLE calls also are implemented. * Modified to ensure that VM SYSSUF :SERVLEV. and :PRODLEV. tag values are properly set and maintained to reflect the correct z/VM CSM service level values for all managed components. Without these updates, incorrect service and production levels can be reported by a SERVICE STATUS command issued on a managed system. Updates to the PUT2PROD EXEC part: * Modified to ensure that VM SYSSUF :SERVLEV. and :PRODLEV. tag values are properly set and maintained to reflect the correct z/VM CSM service level values for all managed components. Without these updates, incorrect service and production levels can be reported by a SERVICE STATUS command issued on a managed system. Updates to the CSMPKGLD EXEC part: * Modified to detect and handle (via error processing) the presence of a component SERVLINK file in a location other than that expected. Without this change, problems that prevent successful handling of a SERVMGR SEND command can arise. * Modified to process z/VM CSM service package SERVLINK files in a compressed (packed) format. Updates to the CSMPKGBD EXEC part: * Modified to create z/VM CSM service package SERVLINK files in a compressed (packed) format. Updates to the CSMSYSMT EXEC part: * Added logic to perform boundary value checks of the FTP TIMEOUT option that can be specified as part of a SERVMGR SYSTEM ADD or MODIFY command. Without these changes, values not honored by the TCP/IP FTP command can be accepted and stored in the CSM SYSSTAT file, creating potential confusion when the FTP TIMEOUT default is instead used (due to a supplied out-of-bound value). Updates to the VMFUME REPOS part: * Included new and changed messages that are associated with the above-listed part changes. The affected messages are: VMF2261W VMF4058E VMF4081I VMF4082I VMF4086E VMF4118E VMF4131E VMF4132E VMF4133I VMF4134E Undated message help files (file type HELPMSG) are provided for each of these messages are provided. In addition, updated command help files (file type HELPVMSE) are provided for the following commands: * SERVICE * SERVMGR (SERVMGR, SERVMINI, SERVMMAN, SERVMSRV, SERVMSYS) * VMFVIEW
