ADAL to MSAL migration

Abstract

With MaaS360 core app version 3.99.500, MaaS360 upgrades to new Microsoft identity platform endpoint Microsoft Authentication Library (MSAL) version 1.1.5 from Azure Active Directory Authentication Library (ADAL) for more secure and better single sign-on experience with Office365 Mail, SharePoint, OneDrive services.
With Secure Editor app version 2.70, MaaS360 extends Microsoft Authentication Library (MSAL) framework support to Secure Editor.

Note:

  • When the MaaS360 core app upgrades to 3.99.500, users may need to enter their corporate credentials manually to complete the migration (if prompted).

Behavior changes:

  • On reinstallation of same version (3.99.500) of MaaS360 core app, the sessions created in the previously installed MaaS360 applications are automatically retained and users can also configure Secure Mail and OneDrive and Share Point doc sources without the need for re-authentication. If users want to clean up a session, they need reset the mail account or sign out of doc sources.
  • Shared device logout with MSAL: During the logout, users must sign out of individual accounts manually for cleaning up of logged in Microsoft accounts. Users can use the Refresh button to clean up accounts individually.

Known issues
MaaS360 agent displays Microsoft login alert repeatedly in the following scenarios until the user successfully completes the authentication:
  • After token expiry
  • Password change
  • MaaS360 agent upgrade
