How do I securely create DTCN profiles to trigger IBM z/OS Debugger on CICS applications?
Answer
The following products:
- IBM Developer for z Systems (all versions)
- IBM Developer for z/OS (v14.2.1 or earlier)
- IBM Z Open Development (v2.0.1 or earlier)
- IBM Wazi for Red Hat CodeReady Workspaces, when using IBM Z Open Development as the client
- IBM Debug for z Systems (all versions)
- IBM Debug for z/OS (v14.2.1 or earlier)
use the Remote CICS Application launch configuration type to manage DTCN profiles, which can be used to trigger IBM z/OS Debugger to debug CICS applications. The Remote CICS Application attempts to contact the DTCN API in unsecured HTTP mode, rather than in HTTPS mode. To securely trigger debugging of CICS applications in the affected products, you can:
- Create and manage DTCN profiles directly from the DTCN CICS transaction interface
- Call DTCN or the new Debug Profile Service API using `curl` or other HTTP client, as described in https://developer.ibm.com/mainframe/2019/09/11/debug-profile-service-api/
- Create and manage DTCN profiles directly from the DTCN CICS transaction interface
- Call DTCN or the new Debug Profile Service API using `curl` or other HTTP client, as described in https://developer.ibm.com/mainframe/2019/09/11/debug-profile-service-api/
- Update to a newer version of the product. The Remote CICS Application launch configuration type has been deprecated and replaced by a consolidated Debug Profiles view.
