MustGather: Troubleshooting Application Editioning Manager

Troubleshooting


Problem

Use the steps below to collect the traces necessary to troubleshoot the Application Edition Manager in IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) versions 8.5 and 9.0.

Resolving The Problem

1) Log on to the administrative console.
 
2) In left panel expand Troubleshooting. Click on Logs and Trace.
 
3) Select the Deployment Manger to be traced, and then on the next page click the Diagnostic Trace link.  If your environment includes multiple cells, enable the trace spec on the Deployment Manager in Center Cell.
4) Select the Configuration tab.
 
5) Under Trace Output, select File radio button and specify File Name. Also Increase the Maximum file size to 100 MB and Increase the Maximum number of historical files to 10.
 
6) Select Basic (Compatible) Trace Output Format unless otherwise specified by support.
 
7) On same panel click on Change Log Detail Levels under Additional Properties on right side panel.
 
8) Under the Configuration tab, specify Trace Specification by entering the trace string:
com.ibm.ws.xd.appeditionmgr.*=all:com.ibm.ws.management.application.*=all:com.ibm.websphere.management.application.*=all:com.ibm.ws.console.appmanagement.*=all:com.ibm.ws.odc.nd.ODCTreeImpl$Save=all
9) Click Apply and OK. Then Save your configuration (select Synchronize changes with Nodes option)

10) Stop the Deployment Manager.

11) Delete or rename the old log files for the Deployment Manager.

12) Start the Deployment Manager with the trace enabled.

13) Recreate the Application Edition Manager problem.

14) When the problem happens, locate this file and make a copy of it:
.../WebSphere/AppServer/profiles/Dmgr01/installedFilters/wlm/dmgr/target.xml

15) Locate the dmgr logs, trace, ffdc, etc files and zip them all up. Please include the target.xml file too.
Note: For any servers that fail to start, please provide logs from the failed servers and the Nodeagent(s) of the failed server(s)

16) Upload the files to your Case per the instructions here:
