Troubleshooting
Problem
We run Audit reports and it only shows reports that are run by the users. But the users also use dashboards and stories but these do not appear in the Audit reports. We even ran this samples report called "Execute reports, dashboards and stories by package for past 30 days" and no dashboards or stories were included in the report. How do we fix this?
Cause
The Query service running on the Cognos dispatcher servers does not have Logging set to "Basic".
Resolving The Problem
Check the Logging level that you have set on the Query Service. You need logging to be set to "Basic" for the Query service on your dispatchers when auditing for Dashboards/Stories. Go to Manage > Administration Console > Configuration > Dispatchers and Services. Click open the first dispatcher and find the Query Service. Click More on the right and Set Properties and go to the Settings tab. Choose Logging in the drop down. Set "Audit logging level for Query Service' to "Basic". Do the same thing for all dispatchers. Close out of Cognos Analytics and relaunch. Run a dashboard or a story. Wait several minutes in order for the Audit file to get updated. Then run the samples report called "Execute reports, dashboards and stories by package for past 30 days" or run this other samples report called "Execute reports, dashboards and stories by user". You will find that the Dashboard and Stories will appear in these audit reports.
