APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The SLA options to save and truncate the logs when selected
    against an Oracle instance in an active-passive Real
    Application Cluster (RAC) environment will have no effect when
    the processed database is on the passive node at the moment of
    the backup run.
    If the database moves to the active node, log
    truncation will complete as expected.
    The issue will not be
    seen in an active-active RAC setup.

Local fix

  • 1. Register only the active node of the RAC in Spectrum Protect
    Plus.
    OR
    2. Create a DNS name on the Spectrum Protect Plus
    host that points to the IP address of the current active node
    and use that name to register the active node in Spectrum
    Protect Plus.
     When the active node changes, the DNS can be
    updated to point to the new active node.
     With this option,
    when the active node changes, the IP address or hostname can be
    moved to the new active node and no change will be needed in
    the Oracle instance registration in Spectrum Protect Plus.
