Abstract
Db2 Warehouse v11.5.1, v11.5.1.0-CN1, v11.5.1.0-CN2 and v11.5.2 are exposed to a potential page-based compression corruption and need to be upgraded to Db2 Warehouse v11.5.3 or later
Content
This document describes the upgrade path of all the impacted Db2 Warehouse releases
Impacted Releases:
Releases v11.5.1, v11.5.1.0-CN1, v11.5.1.0-CN2 and v11.5.2 are impacted.
Problem Fixed: The fix to the problem is being delivered in two phases
- Phase 1: Delivered in Db2 Warehouse v11.5.3. This fix prevents insert or update operations from corrupting a page-base compression page by generating a -901 assertion error. The SQL fails with the assertion error, and the bad data page is not written to the database avoiding the corruption.
- Phase 2: To be delivered in Db2 Warehouse v11.5.4. This is the complete fix for the corruption problem. The corruption is eliminated, and no -901 assertion error is generated.
Upgrade: If you are running any of the impacted releases, you should upgrade to Db2 Warehouse v11.5.3 or later release immediately.
Releases v11.5.1, v11.5.1.0-CN1 and v11.5.1.0-CN2: You should upgrade to v11.5.3 or later.
If there is any reason preventing the upgrade to v11.5.3 or later, you can use the interim v11.5.1.0-SB40166 release that includes Phase 1 of the fix to prevent the corruption.
Important: Customers running releases Db2 Warehouse v11.5.1, v11.5.1.0-CN1 or v11.5.1.0-CN2 without additional fixes can go directly to v11.5.1.0-SB40166. If your system is running a Db2 Special Build that contains extra fixes, you should contact IBM Support for further guidance.
Db2 Warehouse v11.5.2: This release needs to be upgraded to Db2 Warehouse v11.5.3 or later.
Please contact IBM Support if you have any question.
