Troubleshooting
Problem
Users getting prompted to enter username and password when attempting to login to a SSO enabled CAM authenticated server using Excel VBA.
This results in login failure over Planning Analytics server as manually entered credentials are not accepted considering Cognos Analytics is configured to use SSO.
Symptom
1)Users are presented with a windows login screen while attempting to login through Excel VBA to a Planning Analytics server configured to authenticate against a SSO enabled Cognos Analytics environment.
2)Issue does not surface when user attempts to login to the same server using Perspective's Server Explorer window.
3)Once user logs into the server using Perspective's Server Explorer window and then attempts to login using Excel VBA,logins work as expected without the user getting prompted to enter windows credentials manually.
Cause
"n_connect_cam_bridge.dll" file which is used to automatically connect to a CAM SSO enabled Planning Analytics server using Excel VBA is missing from the Client's bin/bin64 directory.
Resolving The Problem
Place "n_connect_cam_bridge.dll" file within the client's bin/bin64 directory.
The file can be downloaded from the below listed IBM tech-note as its not made available with Planning Analytics installation kit
Note : n_connect_cam_bridge.dll was only tested by IBM for legacy TM1 10.2.2 and has not been tested with Planning Analytics.
IBM encourages its clients to use Planning Analytics for Excel API functions to enable these functionalities within Planning Analytics for Excel.
