Error description

  • PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
    ========================
    History log
    monitoring is not displaying or alerting correctly for messages
    in history log.
    History log messages displayed in report view
    is not complete. Situations do not alert for messages in
    history log.
    

Local fix

  • LOCAL FIX:
    
    There is no local fix. Messages that are sent to
    both the history log and a message queue,
    
    such as the QSYSOPR
    message queue, can be monitored using OS400 Messages to monitor
    the message queue.
    

Problem summary

  • ITM IBM i OS agent history log monitor does not return expected
    results.
    
    
    ITM IBM i OS agent history log monitor does not return expected

    This defect occurs for history log situations and reports.
    Results
    may include some or none of the expected history log records.
    
    An operating system change in IBM i 7.3 changed the history log
    timestamp used by the history log query from local time to
    Universal
    Time Coordinated (UTC).  Records were being returned based
    on UTC time instead of the local time.  An authority change
    caused only
    the latest history log file to be used.  This resulted in
    missing record
    for history log situations and reports.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The history log monitor was changed to use the local time to
    search
    for records.  All history log files are now used for searches.
    
    
    The fix for this APAR is contained in the following maintenance
    packages:
