PI91068: FILE STATUS 93 ON READ OF VSAM KSDS WITH ALTERNATIVE INDEX

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• After applying the ptf for apar PI78973, a COBOL program can
  receive a File Status 93 FS93 SK93 on the READ of a VSAM KSDS
  file that has an alternate index.  The problem was not caused
  by the fix for PI78973, but was merely exposed by it.
  

Local fix

• Remove UI46586(V2R1) / UI46585(V2R2)

  There is an error in the COBOL runtime library VSAM READ
  routine when the KSDS dataset has duplicate entries in an
  alternative index key. The error leads to invalid updates to an
  internal I/O control area.
  

Problem conclusion

• The VSAM READ routine in the COBOL runtime library has been
  corrected.
