This may create an instance where the server becomes stuck in a 'stopping' state, preventing any further access to the server until the JVM is restarted. Errors may appear like this: com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.webapp.WebApp destroy SRVE0297E: Web Application sesslstEAR#sesslst.war destroy encountered errors: java.lang.NullPointerException at com.avp.AListener.sessionDestroyed(AListener.java:28) at com.ibm.ws.session.http.HttpSessionObserver.sessionDestroyed(Htt pSessionObserver.java:179) at com.ibm.ws.session.SessionEventDispatcher.sessionDestroyed(Sessi onEventDispatcher.java:160) at com.ibm.ws.session.StoreCallback.sessionInvalidated(StoreCallbac k.java:126) at com.ibm.ws.session.store.memory.MemorySession.invalidate(MemoryS ession.java:232) at com.ibm.ws.session.store.memory.MemorySession.invalidate(MemoryS ession.java:878) at com.ibm.ws.session.store.memory.MemorySession.callInvalidateFrom InternalInvalidate(MemorySession.java:864) at com.ibm.ws.session.store.memory.MemorySession.internalInvalidate (MemorySession.java:780) at com.ibm.ws.session.store.memory.MemoryStore.invalidateAllMemoryS essions(MemoryStore.java:495) at com.ibm.ws.session.store.memory.MemoryStore.stop(MemoryStore.jav a:563) at com.ibm.ws.session.SessionContext.stop(SessionContext.java:744)
Problem conclusion
A try/catch condition was added to destruction of HttpListeners, allowing the shutdown to continue running. The error is appropriately logged in the trace. This APAR is targeted for inclusion in WebSphere Application Server Fix packs 7.0.0.37, 8.0.0.10, and 8.5.5.4.
