How can I download a copy of IBM® Spectrum Control™ V5.3.7 from IBM Passport Advantage® Online?
Answer
To download and assemble the installation parts:
- Go to IBM Passport Advantage Online , click Customer sign in, and sign in by using your IBM ID and password.
- On the Software and services online page, click Software download & media access.
- Find your entitled software by using these search options:
- Use Find by part number to search for a specific part number of a component. Part numbers are shown below.
- Use Find by search text to search for a text string within all your entitled software.
- Tip: To quickly and reliably find and download a specific component, use the Find by part number search option
- On the product download page, ensure that the Required check box is selected, and then click Download. Do not select the Optional check box unless you are sure that you want to download optional parts. You can download and install optional parts at a later time if you determine that you want to use that functionality. The tables below these steps contain the descriptions and part numbers for the required and optional parts for each IBM Spectrum Control edition.
- When the download is finished, complete the following steps:
- Optional: Verify the checksum values for the downloaded files.
- Follow these recommendations to extract the downloaded files:
- Extract the IBM Spectrum Control server image file into a single dedicated directory. Use the GNU tar program when extracting the files on AIX.
- Extract the IBM Db2® image file into a single dedicated directory.
- Extract the IBM Cognos® Analytics Server image files into a single dedicated directory.
- To install the product, follow the instructions in the IBM Spectrum Control Knowledge Center .
Required parts
The following tables separate the required parts for IBM Spectrum Control by operating system. A license is required and must be provided during new installations. The license is available on Passport Advantage Online based on product entitlement. If you are doing an IBM Spectrum Control upgrade rather than a new installation, the DB2 image might not be required. See the supported platforms matrix for Db2 version support details.

IBM Cognos Analytics
Install Cognos Analytics on a separate server and follow instructions for migrating reports in the IBM Spectrum Control knowledge center if you want to use the custom reporting features.
IBM Spectrum Control Storage Resource Agent
Install the Storage Resource Agent on servers that are managed by IBM Spectrum Control to collect information about resources that are internal to the servers, such as virtual machines, logical volumes, disks, file systems, and host bus adapters (HBAs).
IBM Copy Services Manager
IBM Copy Services Manager (formerly known as IBM Tivoli Storage Productivity Center for Replication) contains features that are used by storage systems, such as IBM DS8000®, to configure, manage, and monitor data-copy functions. Copy services include IBM FlashCopy®, Metro Mirror, Global Mirror, and Metro Global Mirror.
IBM Spectrum Protect Snapshot
IBM Spectrum Protect™ Snapshot (formerly known as IBM Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager) is the data backup and restore component in IBM Spectrum Control Advanced Edition and IBM Spectrum Control Advanced Select Edition. IBM Spectrum Protect Snapshot provides fast, application-aware backups and restores, leveraging advanced snapshot technologies available with IBM Storage Systems. IBM Spectrum Protect Snapshot is not included with IBM Spectrum Control Standard Edition or IBM Spectrum Control Standard Select Edition.
