Error description

  • 'query node' could show a wrong MAC address in the case of
    multiple NICs.
The problem is that the Spectrum Protect client incorrectly
parses the output of the CIT scan tool.

    example:
Assume a client has the NICs

IP address/ MAC address of the NICs:

    NIC A: a.b.c.d / aa:bb:cc:dd:ee:ff
    NIC B: e.f.g.h / gg:hh:ii:jj:kk:mm

"query node f=d" shows its result like below.

    nodename: AAAA
    ...
    TCP/IP address: a.b.c.d
    ...
    MAC address: gg:hh:ii:jj:kk:mm

It is only a problem of displaying a wrong MAC address.

    Spectrum Protect Versions affected:
IBM Spectrum Protect client 7.1 or higher on all platforms

    Additional Keywords:
TS003387501; client; query node; MAC address

    Customer/L2 Diagnostics (If Applicable)
    None.

    Initial Impact:
    Low
