How to install Controller client on a Citrix server

How To

Summary

Customer would like to deploy Controller client via Citrix.

How should they install the Controller client on their Citrix servers?

Steps

In general terms, the Controller client should be installed using the same 'best practices' that other (non-Controller) software should be installed on Citrix servers. Specifically:
  • Ensure no other users have a session on the Citrix server
  • Logon to the “console” session. For example, remotely logon to the ‘console session’ via:
    • “mstsc.exe /console” (older versions of Windows)
    • or “mstsc.exe /admin” (newer versions of Windows)
    • Or remotely logon via proxy software such as VNC
  • Software should always be installed when inside “install mode”. The simplest method is to launch a command prompt and:
    • type the following before installing software (for example the Controller client package 'CCRLocalClient64.MSI'):    change user /install
    • type the following after the software has finished installing:    change user /execute

To Summarise:
The instructions to install the Controller client (on a Citrix server) are exactly the same steps as when installing it on a normal laptop (Windows 10)
  • TIP: For full details, see separate IBM Technote #537075.
However, you must also obey the advice above. Most importantly:
  • type the following before installing software (for example the Controller client package 'CCRLocalClient64.MSI'):    change user /install
  • type the following after the software has finished installing:    change user /execute
