Troubleshooting
Problem
There are two issues identified:
- IBM Db2 11.5 is not discovered by IBM License Metric Tool despite it was successfully installed. The issue occurs due to a defect in the Db2 11.5 licensing code. It is planned to be fixed in the next Fix Pack of Db2 11.5.
- Starting from application update 9.2.19, IBM License Metric Tool supports Db2 11.5. However, due to a defect, the version 11.5 of Db2 cannot be assigned to IBM License Metric Tool 9.2.19.
Cause
- IBM Db2 11.5 is not discovered because the necessary ISO tag file does not exist on the computer where the software is installed.
- Software catalog that is delivered with IBM License Metric Tool 9.2.19 does not contain the relations that allow to assign IBM Db2 11.5 to IBM License Metric Tool 9.2.19.
Resolving The Problem
In general, the issue with discovery of IBM Db2 11.5 is planned to be fixed in the next Fix Pack of Db2 11.5. For more information, contact the Db2 Support Team.
This technote refers only to the issue with discovery of IBM Db2 Standard Edition 11.5 that is delivered with IBM License Metric Tool 9.2.19. IBM License Metric Tool will discover IBM Db2 Standard Edition 11.5 after you successfully install the software and manually place the missing ISO tag file on the computer where you installed IBM Db2 Standard Edition 11.5.
Follow the steps below to discover IBM Db2 Standard Edition 11.5 :
- Download the attached ibm.com_IBM_Db2_Standard_Edition_VPC_Option-11.5.0_1.zip file, extract it and copy the .swidtag file to the IBM Db2 Standard Edition 11.5 installation directory.
- After IBM Db2 Standard Edition 11.5 is discovered, assign it to a software product according to your license agreement. If you installed IBM Db2 Standard Edition 11.5 as a software component of IBM License Metric Tool 9.2.19, assign it to IBM License Metric Tool 9.2.19 and create a custom bundling that is free of charge. This bundling relation will be included in the catalog available starting from IBM License Metric Tool 9.2.20.
