Troubleshooting
Problem
When you open the pmpsvc application portal - http://<hostname>:9510/pmpsvc/
You receive the following error message - Error 500:java.lang.nullpointerexception
Cause
This error is caused because of incorrect tag closures or incorrect values in the fpmsvc_config.xml file located in the tm1 install folder.

Resolving The Problem
- Go into the tm1 install location. By default Planning Analytics is installed in the following folder - C:\Program Files\ibm\cognos\tm1_64
- Go to the following location in the PA installation -<PA install>\webapps\pmpsvc\WEB-INF\configuration
- Edit the fpmsvc_config.xml file with notepad or notepad++
- Carefully check all the tags in the fpmsvc_config.xml and ensure all the tags are opened and closed correctly.
- Delete everything between the <tm1></tm1> to reinitialize the pmpsvc application portal (if you wish to reconfigure)
- Save the file and restart the application server ('IBM Cognos TM1' Service)
- The page should now load properly
