IBM Support

I have PCOMM licenses. Can I install and use the IBM StandAlone Host On-Demand on a MAC OS?

Question & Answer

Question

IBM StandAlone Host On-Demand is packaged with IBM Personal Communications. From what I understand PCOMM v 12 cannot be installed on a MAC OS. How can I install IBM StandAlone Host On-Demand on a MAC OS?

Answer

The IBM StandAlone Host On-Demand is indeed packaged with IBM Personal Communications V12. Since PCOMM does not run on the MAC, IBM has provided a means to extend use of an emulator on MAC with the StandAlone HOD support provided in the PCOMM package.

To install on a MAC, you must have java on the machine, then do the following:

  1. Download PCOMM on some Windows machine and extract the zip file.

  2. Install PCOMM .

  3. Find the Stand-alone HOD at C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\Personal Communications\StandAloneHOD .

  4. Zip up the StandAloneHOD folder.

  5. Transfer the zip file to the MAC.

  6. Extract the zip file.

  7. Double-click on the LaunchHOD.jnlp, and the HOD web start client will install.
