Abstract
An issue has been found that can cause a loss of access to data when expanding Distributed RAID arrays containing FCMs on v8.3.1.0 or v8.3.1.1

Dynamic expansion of Distributed RAID arrays was added to the Spectrum Virtualize software in v8.3.1.0 and higher.
Additional post-release testing has identified an issue that can cause a loss of access to data if the FlashCore modules run out of space during the expansion procedure. Therefore IBM strongly recommends that you do not perform expansions of FCM arrays until you have installed a fix for this issue.
Expansions of Distributed RAID arrays containing SAS drives or industry-standard NVMe drives are not exposed to this issue
This issue has been resolved in v8.3.1.2 and v8.4.0.0.
