Answer

Changes made April 4, 2023 are marked with a vertical bar "|" in the left margin.
The procedure to follow when upgrading the z/OS level has been in the Planning and Installation Guide for zWS for a long time.
| See chapter 6  (Migrating) section  "Running on upgraded operating systems".  Basically all that is necessary is to:
|  reassemble the SMF and JES exits mentioned in “Step 5. Adding SMF and JES exits for event tracking”  with the libraries of the new operating system.
. As far as maintenance goes, there have not been any new APARs for compatibility issues between zWS and  z/OS 2.3 or higher (including z/OS 2.5).
However if you are upgrading from z/OS 2.1 or z/OS 2.2 you may need to apply some PTFs.
APAR PI24927 is required for z/OS 2.1 or higher for TWSz release 9.2 or lower  (no PTF is needed for 9.3 or 9.5)
APAR  PI47502 is needed for z/OS 2.2 or higher for TWSz release 9.3 or lower  (no PTF is needed for 9.5)
APAR PI69440 is needed for z/OS 2.2 or higher if you use WAPL and only for the 9.3 release  (no PTF is needed for 9.5)
Here are the PTFs for these 3 APARs:
PI24927:
UI23864 8.5.0
UI23865 8.5.1
UI23866 8.6
UI23867 9.1
UI23868 9.2
PI47502:
UI30686 8.5.0
UI30687 8.5.1
UI30688 8.6
UI30689 9.1
UI30690 9.2
UI30691 9.3
PI69440:
UI44302 9.3
