IBM Support

Activating your IBM Planning Analytics account and inviting other users

Release Notes

Abstract

This document describes how to activate your IBM Planning Analytics account and issues that you ned to be aware of when inviting other users to Planning Analytics.

Content

Initial subscription emails

You will receive at least two invitation emails: one from IBM Planning Analytics (no-reply@admin.ibmcloud.com) inviting you to activate your Planning Analytics account and another from Watson Analytics (no-reply@admin.ibmcloud.com) separately inviting you to activate Watson Analytics. We recommend that you accept the invitation from Planning Analytics first. This connects you to a web page where you create the IBM One ID that you use to log into Planning Analytics.

Note that these invitation emails are generated automatically and that you might receive them before the activation links are active. You should wait until Cloud Operations confirms the links are operational or until you receive your Welcome Kit.

Cloud Operations communications

After you accept the invitation emails, IBM Cloud Operations staff will email you to set your customer-specific URL and other details specific to your service.

Your Welcome Kit

A few days after you have accepted your own invitation you will receive a Welcome Kit. The Welcome Kit provides your customer-unique URLs, so that you can connect to your environment and begin inviting other users in your organization.

Inviting other users

Once you have received your Welcome Kit, you can add users to your Planning Analytics system individually or in bulk uploads of up to 25 users at a time. In each case you must add the users to both Planning Analytics and Watson Analytics. Be sure to invite the user to Planning Analytics first. If a user is invited to Watson Analytics first, the user may not be able to accept an invitation to Planning Analytics.

For more information on adding users, please refer to the Planning Analytics Workspace Guide: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSD29G_1.0.0/com.ibm.swg.ba.cognos.tm1_prism_gs.10.3.0.doc/t_prism_administer.html

Issues and recommendations

Along with the activation details noted above, you should be aware of the following known issues related to inviting new users to Planning Analytics

Chrome and Firefox issues with individual invitations

Some Chrome® and Firefox® users have reported issues with the Invite User button on the Administration page. Until this is resolved, we recommend using Microsoft® Internet Explorer 11 when inviting new users.

Notify users of the various email sender accounts

Note that the invitation and confirmation emails come from several different IBM systems and email accounts. You should notify your users to expect these emails.

Bulk invitation recipients need your Planning Analytics URLs.

While users who are invited individually receive your organization’s specific IBM Planning Analytics URL in their invitation email, bulk-invited users do not receive the Planning Analytics URL from IBM. You must communicate URLs to users who are invited through the bulk invitation process.

Inviting users to Watson Analytics prior to inviting to Planning Analytics can block access to Planning Analytics

If you invite a user to access Watson Analytics before inviting the user to Planning Analytics, the user's access to Planning Analytics may be blocked. This can also happen if the user had a previous subscription to Watson Analytics. A user who is blocked from accessing Planning Analytics due to this problem should contact customer support.
