Description

The IBM Spectrum Protect API enables a client application to use storage management functions. The API includes function calls that you can use in an application to complete the following operations:

Start or end a session
Assign management classes to objects before they are stored on a server
Back up or archive objects to a server
Restore or retrieve objects from a server
Query the server for information about stored objects
Manage file spaces
Send retention events

The API is used by software developers to create new applications that work with IBM Spectrum Protect.

You can download software updates from the Support Portal for IBM Spectrum Protect at http://www.ibm.com/support/entry/portal/Overview/Software/Tivoli/Tivoli_Storage_Manager. Click Downloads (fixes & PTFs) and select the files to download.

Note: Starting with V7.1.8, due to technical reasons, two RHEL packages are being delivered for the Linux on System z client--one general package, and one special package for RHEL 5 support. Use the latter package only for the RHEL5 operating system. The special package for RHEL 5 is available only on the FTP server.
