Conditional coloring does not appear on crosstabs and tables where data has been clipped and the source file has sparse data

Troubleshooting

Problem

Conditional coloring does not appear on crosstabs and tables where data has been clipped and the source file has sparse data .
If your data contains null/missing values, the result set that is displayed in the crosstab where data has been clipped may not contain enough values to accurately evaluate the condition due to the way the query is created.

Symptom

A crosstab or table visualization has data in the Color field, but cells with values do not show any conditional coloring.

Example of a crosstab visualization where conditional coloring is not applied

Cause

If your data contains null/missing values, the result set that is displayed in the crosstab where data has been clipped may not contain enough values to accurately evaluate the condition due to the way the query is created.

Resolving The Problem

Apply a filter do the dashboard or visualization to limit the data being used in the visualization.
