Abstract

Support of IBM Spectrum Scale with IBM Storage Insights and IBM Spectrum Control 5.4 (all versions).

Content

IBM Spectrum Scale was tested with the following firmware levels:

 For a data source, use a GPFS cluster node that runs either of the following operating systems:
  • AIX
  • Linux®
Important: GPFS cluster nodes must be configured for SSH login without requiring a password.
 

 
 

Limitations and considerations

  • 1 The EOS date for the 5.0.x release was April 30, 2022 as documented on the Software lifecycle page.  The final PTF is 5.0.5.14 (April 2022).
  • 2 The EOS date for the 4.2.x release was September 30, 2020 as documented on the Software lifecycle page.  
  • 3 The EOS date for the 4.1.x release was April 30, 2019 as documented on the Software lifecycle page.  
  • There is a limitation that no NSD to Node information is collected or available due to the new NSD to node class reporting.  As a result, in Spectrum Control & Storage Insights GUI, for NSDs the "NSD Servers" column is empty, and for Nodes the "NSDs Served" column is empty.  See APAR IT31606 for details.
  • Spectrum Scale cluster with configured sudo-wrapper environment can not be managed with Spectrum Control or Storage Insights.  This configuration is not supported since mmdsh commands are needed to collect various configuration information from the Scale Cluster.
  • Provisioning functions are not supported for IBM Spectrum Scale.

  • IBM Spectrum Control and IBM Storage Insights supports any other product that does the following:
    • Includes IBM Spectrum Scale with a supported firmware version.
    • Allows IBM Spectrum Scale commands (mm* commands) to be executed remotely through SSH.
      These products are displayed as IBM Spectrum Scale systems in IBM Spectrum Control and IBM Storage Insights.
