General Page

Is ‘Initialize HADR’ mandatory when you add a connection for server or database that has HADR feature on?

If you want to monitor just the primary database, the first method is that you can delete databases of the HADR group and then readd the primary database without clicking "Initialize HADR". The second method is that you can keep databases of the HADR group, then create a new monitor profile with closing all monitoring setting and move the standby databases into the new monitor profile. The last method is to set 'read-on' to off on standby databases, update connections or delete HADR databases and readd them.

Keystore password is managed by liberty, so it is not suggested to use crypt.sh/crypt.bat to encrypt.

A workaround is:

  1. Find the value of property wlp.password.encryption.key in the bootstrap.properties file. If the value of wlp.password.encryption.key ends with one or two '=' characters, they sometimes may be escaped. Remove the backward slash before the equal mark. /wlp/usr/servers/dsweb/bootstrap.properties
  2. Encrypt the password with Liberty utility bat file. /wlp/bin/securityUtility.bat encode --encoding=aes --key=

The differences go well beyond just a new look and feel for the console. The new console is built on a new microservices architecture that provides an open API access to every part of the user interface. This is more than just a pretty face, it is a new way to interact and build on the console. For more information, see the Db2 Data Management Console community page blog.

No there is an upgrade path from Version 2.1.5 to Version 3.1. You can choose an in-place upgrade or you can make a copy of your current Db2 Data Management Console 2.1.5 installation and then upgrade it without disrupting your Data Server Manager production system. For more information, refer to the Db2 Data Management Console Knowledge Center.

Are the system requirements for the new Db2 Data Management Console changing from Data Server Manager?

We have designed the new console to stay as close as possible to the existing Data Server Manager requirements. However you may find that you use about 20-25% more storage using the same monitoring configuration you have today. We now collect history for storage usage as well as currently running statements by default. We also expect that due to code consolidation you can expect to require less memory for the same number of monitored databases than was required with Data Server Manager. Your individual results may vary depending on your configured monitoring options.

Does the new Db2 Data Management Console do everything that Data Server Manager does today?

We plan to eventually support everything that Data Server Manager supports today. The initial GA will support Monitoring, Alerts, Object management and security, running and SQL and visualizing SQL access plans. For a full picture of the plan,  refer to the Db2 Data Management console roadmap.
