Prerequisites
Version of IBM Installation Manager required: IBM Installation Manager 1.7.2. |
Additional Notes: Upgrade the agent and ART to version 8.1.4.8 to obtain the RFE and improvements that are included in this release. Important: If you are upgrading the ART from version 8.1.4 to 8.1.4.8, you must upgrade the ART component first, before you upgrade the agent. If you are currently using ART version 8.1.4.2 or 8.1.4.3, to upgrade to version 8.1.4.8, you cannot use the IBM Installation Manager Update option to upgrade. You must uninstall the previous version of ART. After you uninstall the previous version, the data in the installation directory remains. Do not delete this directory. When you install version 8.1.4.8, the installer migrates the data from the old installation directory into the new installation directory. Ensure that you select the option to migrate data from the old installation location during the installation. See the Upgrading section of the IBM Knowledge Center. However, if you are currently using ART version 8.1.4.4 or later, you can upgrade to version 8.1.4.8 using the IBM Installation Manager Update option. If the 8.1.4 agent is configured with ART, when you upgrade to 8.1.4.8, the tool shows the reporting status as Not Running. When you select Start reporting for the first time, the log file conversion process begins. Depending on the size of your server log file, it can take time for the initial conversion of the data. The system must convert the data in the entire log to the required format. Data backup and upgradeWhen you upgrade from version 8.1.4.4 or later, the installer automatically creates a backup of your license usage data. Known Side Effects
Review the following known issues. |
APAR | Description |
-- | If any user name or host name in the license server log file contains a double quotes character ("), a user-based or chargeback report may display incomplete license usage information. |
-- | If a user name or host name in the license server log file contains the at-the-rate character (@), the entry for this user in a user-based or chargeback report displays an empty hostname. |
-- | A report definition does not save the selection of a product that contains the plus character (+). For example, "Developer for Power Systems Software C/C++ Dev Tools for AIX." When this type of report definition is run, data for this product is not reported. When such a report definition is edited, by default, a product that contains the plus character is not selected. |
-- | If ART is configured to use LDAP-based user management and you use the art-tools utility to change the LDAP password in ART, you cannot use a password that contains non- ASCII characters. If the password contains non- ASCII characters, ART will not start. For more details, see the technical document. |

Change History
You can run the art-utils utility to change the LDAP password that is configured in ART. See Changing the LDAP password configured in the server administration and reporting tool. |
In LKAD, you can update the appropriate Flex registry on Windows Vista or later versions of Windows. With this improvement, Flex utilities like lmutil can read the license server configuration correctly on Windows Vista or later versions of Windows. |
