PI22640 resolves the following problem:

ERROR DESCRIPTION:
A NullPointerException occurs when caching is enabled and the proxy server has tracing enabled. The NPE is in CFW code.

LOCAL FIX:

PROBLEM SUMMARY

USERS AFFECTED:
All users of IBM WebSphere Application Server using the proxy server with caching and tracing enabled.

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
NullPointerExceptions are observed when proxy server caching and tracing are enabled.

RECOMMENDATION:
None

When caching is enabled on the proxy server a new HTTP message object may be allocated that is not initialized. A NullPointerException occurs when the object is then used with tracing. The newly allocated HTTP message is never actually used.

PROBLEM CONCLUSION:
The proxy server will not allocate a new HTTP message object.
