CM-REQ-4313 CM-SYS-5173 Content Store export causes deadlock

Troubleshooting


Problem

When performing a full export of the content store, errors below can occur.

Symptom

CM-REQ-4313 An error occurred during an export operation.
CM-SYS-5173 Content Manager failed while processing a database transaction because of a database deadlock. This can happen when another Content Manager process or an external program is accessing the content store database. Check for any scripts that are running, such as Content Manager clean up or IBM Cognos Software Development Kit scripts, that may result in a heavy volume of updates to the content store. Check with the database administrator about other programs that might be updating the database. Transaction (Process ID ***) was deadlocked on lock resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock victim. Rerun the transaction. . 

Resolving The Problem

Follow the steps below to Implement the advanced parameter CM.DBLOCKWAITTIMEOUT_MSSQLSERVER
1. Go to Cognos Administration > Status > System > Services > ContentManager
2. Alongside ContentManagerServices select Set Properties > Settings > Advanced settings - Edit > Check Override the settings acquired from the parent entry
3. Add "CM.DBLOCKWAITTIMEOUT_MSSQLSERVER" with a value of "150000"
