Onboarding a follower store in Sterling Inventory Management refreshes the configurations of all the follower stores under the model store

Question & Answer

Question

Why do the adjustment reasons codes get refreshed to all the existing follower stores when a new follower store is added to the same model store in IBM Sterling Order Management?

Cause

You want to understand the supported user case for using a Model store.

Answer

In a typical business setup, a group of stores would be using identical configuration. To make the configuration simpler, Model store concept is used so that the group of stores having the same configuration can actually follow a model store to inherit the configuration with Model store holding all the necessary configuration that can be shared across the followers. The assumption made in this design is that  individual stores won't have any deviations from the inherited configuration.

For each such group of stores that share the configuration, a Model store would be defined with required configuration. So, setting additional configuration on follower stores is not a supported use case and is subject to reset to Model state.
