How to hide a folder

Troubleshooting


Problem

Hide a folder containing a package for users/groups but let them ability to run reports on this package.

Resolving The Problem

  1. Logon to your portal with System Administrator account.
  2. To hide an entry, open the folder Properties. On the General tab, open the Advanced section and select the "Hide this entry" check box.
  3. In Cognos Administration portal slect "Security" > "Capabilities"
  4. Click the arrow beside "Hide Entries", then click on Set Properties.
  5. Under the Permissions tab, remove the Everyone group, and grant Execute/Traverse permissions to the appropriate groups, roles or users.
  6. Any user, group or role who has not been granted Execute/Traverse access will not be able to see the "Show hidden entries" checkbox under My Preferences.
  7. To show hidden entries in your content lists, tap your user name, then My preferences. On the General tab, select the Show hidden entries check box.
