How to enable additional logging for }tp TIs associated with TM1 Applications?
Answer
Additional logging is available for the }tp_ processes that are used for TM1 Applications. This can be useful when debugging various issues with TM1 Applications such as data reservations, security, workflow, etc.
The logging is already built into the TI processes, and can be enabled using the following steps:
- In Architect, enable Display of Control Objects, and open the }ElementAttributes_}tp_config cube. Or, in Performance Modeler, create a new view on the }ElementAttributes_}tp_config cube to edit the data.
- Enter Y as the "String Value" for "Generate TI Log".
- Enter a logging path as the "String Value" for "Log Directcory" for the logs.
- In a cloud environment, use a path relative to the TM1 data directory or an absolute path. E.g. s:\prod\24retail\logs
Note: The TI processes will fail and result in errors within TM1 Applications if the server cannot write a log file to the log directory provided. A TM1ProcessError.log file will be created with a message similar to the following:
- Error: Prolog procedure line (49): File "s:\prod\24retail\log\tp_workflow__execute_action__classic_approval_a458559b-af2f-46e8-a4bd-72138d90ae55_prolog.log" not found.
Caution: Once the required logs have been collected, logging should be disabled to avoid prolific generation of logs. This can be done by removing the values added in Steps 2 and 3 above.
