How does CPU Tracker Report retrieve it's information?

Resolving The Problem

1) How does the CPU Tracker in TAP Monitor work?

ANSWER: CPU Tracker lists the Software Tap Host and the number of CPU's on machines running S-TAP. It is a predefined report in Guardium.

2) Where does CPU Tracker Report gather the CPU information from?

ANSWER: CPU Tracker searches the whole environment where S-TAP's are installed. This might be multiple OS's in a heterogeneous environment. For most UNIX flavors, the reports uses the 'prtconf" command to retrieve such information. For Windows, "systeminfo" if used to retrieve system information.

3) Is the information shown in the report based on physical CPU or the number of COREs?

ANSWER: The information shown in the CPU Tracker report is based on number of COREs.

4) How does CPU Tracker calculate?
For instance, if the report show 10 CPU's, does it calculate 10 x physical processor or 10 x CORE ?

ANSWER: If the report shows 10 CPU's, it means 10 x CORE.
