APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • OCT generates DROP and CREATE-syntax when the LIMIT KEY is
changed in a classic partitioned tablespace defined with
MEMBER CLUSTER. Altering the LIMIT KEY is a pending change
when the table space is classic partititoned or partitioned
by range (UTS PBR), does not require DROP/CREATE. It's only
when defined with Member Cluster you get this behavior.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: Users of the DB2 Object Comparison Tool *
    * for z/OS who compare table spaces where *
    * the source table space is from DDL which *
    * uses 'SEGSIZE 0' and 'MEMBER CLUSTER', *
    * and the target table is from the catalog *
    * which has the same DDL as the source. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Object Compare unnecessarily generates *
    * a DROP and CREATE statement when the *
    * table space is a classic partitioned *
    * table space and the only changes are *
    * to the limit key. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
Object Compare generates a DROP and CREATE statement when the
limit key is changed in a classic partitioned table space
which is defined with the MEMBER CLUSTER option. Altering
the limit key does not require a DROP and CREATE when the
table space is a classic partitioned table space.
