APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • IBM Communications Server for z/OS APAR PM19545 added
the capability for a directory listing to distinguish between a
PDS and a PDS/E in the DSORG column of the  output. If that
option is enabled (with a LISTLEVEL 1 statement in the server's
FTP.DATA configuration input), the client program might not
recognize the new response (PO-E instead of PO).

This can cause z/OS Explorer Aqua to fail to display PDSE
Members from the z/OS perspective.

The folloing error message may be seen

File Not Found IZE0816E File TEST.PDSE does not exist or is
in use:
com.ibm.cics.zos.comm.ZOSFileNotFoundException: File Not Found
TEST.PDSE - 550 Retrieve of a whole Partitioned data set is not
supported. Use MGET for this purpose.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • FTP connection to z/OS does not support browsing the members of
a PDSE.

Problem conclusion

  • Support has been added to allow browsing PDSEs from a FTP
connection.
