Error description

  • MAINTAIN with ONLINE(Y) has been changed to issue CHANGE DB
    NOREORGI commands after any ABEND by the PTF UI32794.
    In the client's scenario; an ABENDS806 occurred and the CHANGE
    DB NOREORGI command was issued successfully. The client then
    experienced an ABENDS0C4 after the ABENDS806 and the CHANGE DB
    NOREORGI command was not issued. So the complexity of this issue
    is to fix the 0C4 and ensure the CHANGE DB NOREORGI command will
    be issued in all conditions.

    *                      ABENDS0C4 without issuing CHANGE DB     *
    * NOREORGI commands after any ABEND. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When each subtask of MAINTAIN is started, some data with the
    TCB address (hereafter referred to as Named object) is saved
    in a common pool. The Named object is retrieved from several
    programs by using TCB address of each subtask, and is deleted
    in the shutdown process of the subtask.
    However, if a subtask terminates with any ABEND before the
    shutdown process, the Named object for the subtask is remained
    as a garbage.
    After the ABEND, a new subtask is started to issue CHANGE DB
    commands. At this point, if the identical TCB address is
    assigned for the new subtask by coincidence, the ABENDS0C4
    can occur by retrieving the garbage.

Problem conclusion

  • IHCXNAOB and IHCYSCHD have been changed to delete the garbage
    after any ABEND.
