APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
This issue is caused by a cache constraint when using user customized providers. In our case, there are three providers - MessageBodyWriter, MessageBodyReaderWriter and MessageBodyReader. When Liberty is trying to search for providers, it will first scan for user customized providers, and then search internal Jackson providers. When searching customized providers, only MessageBodyReaderWriter and MessageBodyReader are found because they are all reader providers, which means MessageBodyWriter is not found.
Local fix
Combine MessageBodyWriter provider into MessageBodyReader provider, and both of the providers can be loaded. Alternatively, use the internal Jackson provider.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server Liberty - Web Services (JAX-WS, JAX- * * RS) * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: User defined MessageBodyWriter will not * * be run * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** This is a defect of our cache mechanism
Problem conclusion
We used one cache to store the MessageBodyReader and MessageBodyWriter, now we split the cache into two objects: one to store the MessageBodyReader and the other to store the MessageBodyWriter The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 16.0.0.2.
