Question & Answer
Question
I am configuring application user translation (AUT) for Oracle E Business Suite application (EBS). What is the meaning of 'Connect to User Name' and 'Connect to Server IP' parameters? How should they be used in conjunction with other AUT parameters?
Answer
For more details on application user translation see - Five methods for identifying application end users associated with database activity
AUT parameters for EBS from Application User Translation page in the GUI:
User Name should be the DB User that EBS is using to connect to the database, the default is APPS. This can be verified by checking in Guardium session reports e.g. - IBM Sessions in related information.
Connect to User Name should only be filled in if the Guardium administrator does not know or is not allowed the password for the DB User in User Name. In that case it should be a different database user that has permissions on the Oracle tables FND_USER and FND_USER_RESPONSIBILITY (if 'responsibility' is selected).
Password should be the password for the User Name, or Connect to User Name if defined.
Server IP should be the IP that EBS is using to connect to the database. It can be checked in Guardium reports.
Connect to Server IP Should only be filled in if the Guardium appliance can not connect to the database using Server IP, for example a virtual IP is needed instead.
Port, Instance Name, DB Name should reflect the details that EBS is using to connect to the database. Again they can be checked in Guardium reports.
